Artist - Barbara Ann Taylor
Welcome to my website. I have put together the site to provide a showcase for two of my hobbies; making miniatures and watercolour painting. Retirement provides a wonderful opportunity to pursue a variety of leisure interests and the word boredom has no place in my life.
My love of miniatures developed after seeing an advert for a doll house magazine and soon I was the proud owner of a doll house/shop. Since I did not have a dollhouse as a child it was a new experience. I decided to set the shop vaguely in the 30s/40s and I named it after my maternal grandmother, Ann Hough who had herself a 'corner shop' in the 1920s. I never knew my grandmother since she died before my second birthday but in her memory
'Mrs Hough, General Provisions' was born. The rest is history.
My interest in Watercolour painting grew after meeting the artist Graham H. Hadlow who is based in St.Florence, Pembrokeshire. He was an inspiration and gave me confidence and guidance to create my paintings. This was no mean task. Having been humiliated by an art teacher at school it would be some forty years before I picked up a paint brush again but thanks to Graham I haven't looked back though I see my self as a 'hobby painter' rather than an artist!
Finally, enjoy looking at my site. I paint and make my models for pleasure so don't sell my work or take commissions.
